A passenger was allegedly shot dead in a moving train near Nokha station under East Central Railway on Sunday evening. Madan Pd (42) of Rassi Bagan of Ara was traveling with his wife and three children by Ara-Sasaram passenger train to Sasaram in Rohtas district to attend the wedding of one of his close relatives.

SHO of GRP Sasaram, Md K Khan, said the case was handed over to Nokha police station as the place came under its jurisdiction. It was earlier believed to be death due to stone-throwing injuries, but a post-mortem found a bullet lodged in the back of his head, Civil Surgeon Dr K N Tiwari said. Ironically, the RPF team was accompanying the train. The deceased was a mason by trade.

The SHO and RPF team reached the platform around 8.30 pm and found the person lying in a pool of blood. His wife Reena Devi said Madan was sitting on the window seat. When she woke up near Nokha Station, she found him in a pool of blood. She treated a head injury due to rock throwing by some miscreants.

However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the trauma center of Sadar Hospital in Sasaram.
